The Scotia iTRADE #MyMakeItHappen ContestOFFICIAL CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS
THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO CANADIAN RESIDENTS ONLY (EXCLUDING QUEBEC)
By entering The Scotia iTRADE #MyMakeItHappen Contest (the “Contest”), entrants agree to abide by these Official Contest Rules and Regulations and the decisions of the sponsor, Scotia iTRADE®, a division of Scotia Capital Inc. (the “Sponsor”), which are final.
The Contest commences at 12:01 AM on August 1, 2017 Eastern Time (“ET”) and will end at 11:59 PM on October 31, 2017 ET (the "Contest Period").
To enter the Contest and be eligible to win a Prize (see rule 4), a person (“Entrant”) must, at the time of entry, be a legal resident of Canada (excluding the residents of Quebec) who is of the age of majority in his/her province/territory of residence as of August 1, 2017. Specifically excluded from entering the Contest are: (i) employees, officers, directors, agents and representatives of the Sponsor, The Bank of Nova Scotia, their advertising and promotional agencies and each of their respective subsidiaries and affiliates; and (ii) a member of any such person’s immediate family (regardless of where they live) or persons with whom they are domiciled (whether related to the person or not). In these Official Rules, “immediate family” includes mother, father, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, partner or spouse.
An entrant may not win more than one Prize during the Contest Period. To be eligible for the Contest prizes, all entries must be received during the Contest Period.

To enter the Contest participants must click on the link provided and complete the electronic Contest entry form in full. Each Contest entry must be a story about how you achieved a financial goal or discovered a better way to save or invest, with a minimum of 200 characters in length. After successfully submitting the Contest entry form during the Contest Period, you will automatically be entered into the Contest.
Your submission will automatically earn you one (1) entry into the Contest. Only one (1) entry per person is allowed during the Contest Period. All entries become the property of Scotia iTRADE. Scotia iTRADE assumes no responsibility for any incomplete, misidentified, misdirected, late, lost, falsified, damaged, mutilated or garbled entries, which will be void, or for any other such problems occurring in connection with participation in this Contest. All entries are subject to verification. Scotia iTRADE reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to Scotia iTRADE) to participate in this Contest. Failure to provide such proof in a timely manner may result in disqualification. By entering this Contest, you agree to be bound by the decisions of Scotia iTRADE, which are final and binding without right of appeal with respect to all matters relating to the Contest.
There will be a total of 3 monthly prizes (each referred to as a “Monthly Prize”) available to be won with one (1) Monthly Prize per Monthly Prize Period, each prize consisting of one Apple Watch®* Series 3, with an approximate retail prize value of $429 CDN, each a “Prize”. Each of the Monthly Prizes will be awarded to the winner based on the draw conducted monthly as described in rule 5 below (each, a “Monthly Draw”).
Prizes must be accepted as awarded without substitution, are not transferable, not convertible to cash and not for resale. The Sponsor reserves the right, in the event that a Prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason, to substitute another prize of equal or greater value, without liability.
The Contest Period will be divided into three (3) Periods (each a “Monthly Prize Period”) which are as follows:

Each Entry must:
-
- be in English;
- be a story about how you achieved a financial goal or discovered a better way to save or invest;
- be no less than 200 characters and no more than 1,000 characters in length;
- be sent by clicking the “Summit your entry” icon on the Contest entry form;
- not post the same content more than once;
- be intended for family audience viewing and contain only content that, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Sponsor, is suitable for all persons, including persons under the age of 13;
- not contain any nude, sexually explicit, disparaging, discriminatory, libelous or other inappropriate content of any kind whatsoever;
- not contain any content that promotes any product or service other than that of the Sponsor;
- not contain any language suggesting or encouraging illegal activity;
- not contain anything that infringes or that may infringe anyone’s rights, including intellectual property rights;
- not contain any identifiable third party products and/or trade-marks, brands, logos or copyright, other than those of the Sponsor;
- not contain any copyrighted works (other than as owned by the eligible Entrant) or third party content that may be subject to and protected by intellectual property laws, including but not limited to music, artwork, video and photographs;
- contain entirely original materials that have never before been distributed, shown publicly or published, or selected as a winner in any other contest;
- not contain any reference to or likeness of identifiable third parties, unless consent has been obtained from all such individuals and such individuals are of the age of majority.
During each Monthly Prize Period, a random draw will be conducted on each Monthly Draw Date for one (1) eligible entrant among all eligible Entries submitted and received during each Monthly Prize Period in accordance with these Rules at 2:00:00 PM ET at Scotia iTRADE - 225 King Street West, Suite 1200, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5V 3M2. The selected entrant may not win more than one Prize during the Contest Period.
Each selected entrant must first correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question. The selected entrants will be contacted by telephone by a representative of the Sponsor to make arrangements for administering the skill-testing question. Arrangements will be made for the awarding of the Prize at the time the skill-testing question is administered and correctly answered.
If any of the selected entrants do not meet any conditions of these Official Consent Rules and Regulations, fail to answer the skill-testing question correctly, do not sign and return Scotia iTRADE’s Release Form within five (5) days of being contracted by Scotia iTRADE, or a selected entrant cannot be reached by telephone or email within ten (10) days of the Monthly Draw Date, or if, for any other reason the Prize cannot be awarded, another Contest entry will be randomly selected and so on, until all the Prizes have been awarded. Scotia iTRADE is not responsible, whether as a result of human error or otherwise, for any failure to contact any potential winners.
To be declared a prize winner, each selected entrant must answer correctly, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill testing question. Each Selected Entrant will also be required to sign and return within five (5) business days of notification the Release Form, which (among other things): (a) confirms compliance with these Official Rules including eligibility requirements; (b) acknowledges acceptance of the Prize as awarded; (c) releases the Sponsor, The Bank of Nova Scotia, their advertising and promotional agencies and each of their respective subsidiaries and affiliates and each of their respective shareholders, officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Releases”) from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, the Selected Entrant’s participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the applicable Prize or any portion thereof; and (d) agrees to the publication, reproduction and/or other use of the his/her name, address, voice, Story, statements about the Contest, photograph or other likeness without further notice or compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by the Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast and the internet.
Each Prize will be shipped to the applicable winner within thirty (30) business days of receipt and verification of his/her Release Form to the address shown on the Release Form (and subject to compliance with all other condition and requirements provided in these Official Rules).
By entering the Contest, Entrants (i) confirm compliance with these Official Rules including all eligibility requirements, and (ii) agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the Sponsor, made in its sole discretion, which shall be final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. Entrants who have not complied with these Official Rules are subject to disqualification.
The Sponsor is not responsible for any human or computer-generated error in the selection of an entrant or the awarding of a Prize.
The Sponsor will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete or destroyed entries and all such entries, including entry material/data that have been tampered with or altered, are void. The Sponsor does not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, printing errors, lost, delayed or garbled data or transmissions, electronic communications which are undeliverable as a result of any form of active or passive filtering of any kind, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer lines or networks, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. In addition, the Sponsor shall not be responsible due to technical problems, traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material on the Contest Website.
Any person who enters or tries to enter the Contest in a manner which is unfair to the other entrants will be automatically disqualified and could be referred to the appropriate authorities. The use of automated software or computer programs to register in or enter this Contest is prohibited and any individual who uses or attempts to use such methods to register or enter will be disqualified. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest in any way (as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. In the event it is determined that an entrant has entered in a fashion not sanctioned by these Official Contest Rules and Regulations and/or has submitted more than the number of entries permitted by these Official Contest Rules and Regulations, the entrant will be disqualified.
By entering this Contest, winners release the Sponsor, The Bank of Nova Scotia, their subsidiaries, affiliated companies, their advertising and promotional agencies, their employees, representatives and agents from any and all liability for damages of whatever nature that arise from the acceptance or use of all or part of the Prize.
The Sponsor reserves the right to correct clerical or typographical errors in promotional materials or these Official Contest Rules and Regulations.
The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to withdraw, terminate or modify all or any part of the Contest, if for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including corruption, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, a virus, a bug or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor and which, in the opinion of the Sponsor, affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules.
The Sponsor, reserves the right to cancel, amend or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules, in any way at any time without prior notice or obligation, in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind, or for any other reason whatsoever. Without limiting the generality of the forgoing, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to administer an alternate test of skill as it deems appropriate based on the circumstances and/or to comply with applicable law. Scotia iTRADE will not assume any responsibility of any nature whatsoever in all cases where its inability to hold the Contest or to remit the Prizes to the winner results from a cause beyond their control, including acts of God, weather conditions, strikes, lock-outs or other labour disputes.
In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Official Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest related materials, including, but not limited to point of sale, print or online advertising, the terms and conditions of these Official Rules shall prevail, govern and control to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable Canadian federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
The Sponsor is committed to respecting Entrants’ privacy. Any personal information collected for this Contest shall be used by the Sponsor solely for the purpose of managing and administering this Contest. Any personal information collected will be handled in strict accordance with the Scotiabank Privacy Agreement found at http://www.scotiabank.com/ca/en/0,,9966,00.html and all applicable privacy legislation. By entering the Contest and voluntarily providing personal information, including, but not limited to, name, e-mail address and telephone number (the “Registrant Information”), you expressly consent to Scotia iTRADE, its agents and/or representatives, its affiliates and partners collecting, storing, sharing, using and disclosing the Registrant Information for the purpose of administering the Contest and selecting the Prize winners in accordance with Scotiabank Privacy Agreement. The Sponsor will not sell an Entrant’s personal information collected for this Contest to any third parties.
